Donald Trump's online store is selling "Trump 2028" merchandise, despite him being constitutionally barred from running for a third presidential term.
Donald Trump's online store is selling clothing featuring the slogan "Trump 2028," despite the Republican being constitutionally barred from running in the next US presidential election. The merchandise includes red caps priced at $50 and T-shirts in navy and red, priced at $36, with the slogan “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules).”
The move comes as Trump's approval rating has been declining, with opinion polls showing concerns over his handling of key issues such as the cost of living and tariff policies. Trump has not ruled out serving a third term, despite the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution stating that “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Trump has insisted he is "not joking" about a third term, claiming there are "methods" that would allow it to happen. However, any serious effort to amend the Constitution would require a two-thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as ratification by at least 38 of the 50 US states.
The merchandise has raised eyebrows, given the constitutional ban on Trump's potential candidacy. Trump's son Eric was seen sporting one of the red caps on social media, sparking questions about the former president's intentions.
